Picture Blog

Yes, I have lots to show and talk about- so get ready!

First, this weather is crazy- I have a feeling we're skipping Fall and going straight to Winter. I LOVE fall though- but it's ok (i guess). I'd rather have this weather than over 100* weather!

Last weekend I went to Conway friday night with my BFF Whit and her mom Kellye. We were pretty tired so didn't do much that night. We got up bright and early saturday to go cheer on our HOGS!! Little Rock tailgating is a must for everyone. The game was awesome because depending on your section you were suppose to wear a red or white shirt, and the student section wore blue. It looked great in the stands! The hog in the middle of the field was also red/white/blue remember 9/11.

Check out these rice krispie treats! How cute are those?!?! My friend, Whit, works for SAMs home office. I know I'm going to get her position wrong, but she has something to do with lead buyer for bakery department (did I get close whit?). Anyways, thank her for these because it was all her doing! In SAMs stores NOW! They went over great at the tailgate and taste so good!

This is the one you need to thank for the awesome rice krispies = )

Oh look at all that food- one of my favorite things about tailgating!

YAY!! We got to see Drewbie!

                                   Perfect tailgate decorations

After the game we drove back home because I had to get up and catch a plane to VEGAS!!! My parents had booked their trip and I decided to crash with them = ) Thanks mom/dad for letting me. It was a nice break from work and we had a great time. It actually rained quite a bit surprisingly. When we got there it was raining & HAILING! Something I didn't think I'd ever see in a desert. It usually rained at night though which made for cool mornings walking the strip. We stayed at the Aria, which is located in the center of the strip next to the CityCenter shopping area. It's a fairly new hotel and really nice.

Pretty chandeliers in Cosmopolitan. This hotel is nuts at night (like can't even walk through it) but during the day it was nice/calm.

                         Beautiful Bellagio water show

Had to get my picture taken with Woody

The pool at Aria, and the only day I got to lay out = (

              Pretty waterfall outside of Aria

Yummy dessert that looked like a hot dog

Nutella crepe anyone? OMG AMAZING! As you can see I did not stick to my zone meals

Happy Birthday Dad! His birthday was on Tuesday

I want this picture- at Hash House A GoGo- everyone needs to eat here if you like breakfast, which I love. It's at Imperial Palace and they're famous for their chicken/waffles (I need to try them sometime).

Oh and they have huge pancakes- definitely share a meal with someone

Dad's biscuit & gravy pie- so good

Mom and I love the Sex & the City slot machines- you can win big sometimes too!

Another thing to do while in Vegas is go to the outdoor Premiere Outlet mall. It a short/cheap taxi ride to the outlet with great shopping. I usually go to COACH to try to find a new purse but just couldn't find one I really liked. I've been wanting a small/lite traveling purse and found one at Dooney & Bourke- in my favorite color too = )

                       A Pink's hot dog- yummy!

This would look quite funny in my house- but I still want it ha!

Another thing I always try to do in Vegas, is go to Bellagio and look at the garden display. It's always a different theme. Well this year it was under construction = ( We went the next day and they had done some stuff, so picture aren't great because still couldn't walk through it

Wow there's some Vegas pictures- it was a great trip and I had tons of fun! We ate at some really good places and just relaxed.

Since Andrew and I have our own house now, I love decorating! Well which is just now taking place with Halloween = ) I went to Hobby Lobby (which is my new favorite store) and they had tons of stuff 50% off. That's one thing I love about that place- if you find something you just wait about a week and it'll be 50% off. I could spend hours in that store which would get me in a lot of trouble! Here's some decorations I've gotten.

                            Love these vintage looking plates

I need to find a place for these 2 pumpkins

We got our picture hung up and it looks great with the others. I'd try to take a picture of the whole room but kind of hard with my cell

The Ukraine trip is approaching!!! I can't believe it's almost here- definitely getting more nervous/excited thinking about it. There has been a lot of preparation for this trip by all and we could use others help = ) Some have asked how they can help- well you can either make donations or we have a registry where you can help us with our therapy materials to take to use with the children. I couldn't get the flyer with all the information to upload, so I took a picture of it in my e-mail. If you have any questions just get with me and I'll answer away =)

Tomorrow is game day!!! I'm not going this time, instead going with Big Kara and her daughter to see Katy Perry in Tulsa. Don't worry we'll still be cheering on our Hogs even in Tulsa! Everyone have a great week! Sorry for such a long post

Catch up Time

Wow, I haven't blogged in a little bit. I try to blog every week (even though my life isn't that exciting), but have been pretty busy. So here it goes!

2 weekends ago I went and visited my parents in Conway. Mom and I made some yummy chocolate Paleo ice cream. For those of you who don't know what the Paleo diet is, well- it's called the ManCave diet because you basically eat: nuts, veggies, fruits, meat (but grass-fed pasture raised meat) and fish. NO SUGAR AT ALL!! Lately I've been trying a Zone diet- it's not quite as hard core as Paleo and I do pretty well during the week, but then that weekend hits and it goes all down hill = ) Also sometimes for dinner it's hard to stick to the diet because we all know I'm an eating out machine! Ok ok, back to the chocolate paleo ice cream- it was very good! Here's the recipe- use preferrably with an ice cream maker so everything mixes up really well.

2 14 oz cans coconut milk (regular, not light)
2/3 cups unsweetened cocoa powder (I love Penzy's dutch process)
6 TBSP honey
In a medium size bowl, mix the cocoa power with 1 can of coconut milk until combined (I like to sift my cocoa so there isn't any lumps). You should get a fudgey consistency. Then add your other can of coconut milk and honey and wisk until combined.
Pour into your ice cream maker (following their instructions for time, etc). Ours takes 25-30 minutes.

Last week my dad was in town doing some work for a friend and stayed with Andrew and I. One night I decided to try another Paleo recipe for pizza. Here's the recipe
Crust:
2 cups almond meal
2 eggs
3 tbsp olive oil
¼ tsp baking soda
1 tsp garlic powder
1 ½ tbsp fresh rosemary chopped
Toppings:
1 cup organic marinara sauce
1 lb Italian pork sausage nitrate free
2 crook neck yellow summer squash diced
3 green onions chopped
Handful of torn basil leaves
2 small tomatoes diced
1/2 cup roasted red peppers diced
Handful of sliced black olives
***Preheat your oven to 350. Using a spoon mix all crust ingredients together until it becomes very thick.  Using your hands, form the dough into a ball.  Lightly grease a pizza pan or a cookie sheet with olive oil.  Place the ball of dough in the center of your cookie sheet or pizza pan and using your hands, push and pat the dough down into the shape of a circle.  You want to make the dough as thin as possible.  Your pizza will be about 12 inches across.  Bake JUST the crust in your pre-heated oven for 20 minutes.  While your crust is cooking, prepare your toppings.   After the crust if done, remove from the oven and evenly spread the marinara sauce over the crust.  Add the sausage and all remaining toppings evenly over the sauce and bake again for an additional 25-30 minutes.
I wasn't sure about this pizza- but I loved it! I remembered to take a picture after we pretty much demolished it = )

This weekend was labor day weekend, but best of all, HOG FOOTBALL STARTED! Andrew had to work this game so my dad went with me. This was our first year to have season tickets- I love our seats and had so much fun with a great win!

I also got a new cooler painted from a sorority sister (Allyson Mcguire, Creative Design by Allyson Mcguire on facebook) just in time for the first Hog game!

Sunday I went to the clothesline fair in Prairie Grove. I have grown up going to this fair but have not been in probably 5 years. So I decided it was time to go back this year since I didn't have any big plans. I must admit I was disappointed. They had some good stuff don't get me wrong, it just wasn't as big as I remember it being. I went to War Eagle last year and it was huge- I loved it! I was expecting it to be big like that but it wasn't. However, I did buy some yummy salsa.

Today I went to Fayetteville to do some shopping with Big Kara. I got some house decorations, fall decorations and I got stuff to make, um Big Kara will make, a Halloween Wreath.
I have been waiting for this picture to go on sale! Our extra bedroom/tv room/Andrew's man room is being decorated in Hog decor/game room type stuff- I love it! I'm slowly but surely getting the house how I want it. I think our bedroom will be the last room to tackle, because I want a new bedroom set, and probably won't decorate until we decide which set we want. Not that we're looking hard or anything at the moment- but some day = )

I'm so excited it's a short work week, another Hog game this weekend in LR and then leaving Sunday for Las Vegas!!!!

Passport gone BAD!

I know it's an interesting title for my blog- most of you know about my horrible passport but haven't seen the picture ; ) I finally decided to dedicate a blog to my horrible passport picture! BUT first, I need to talk about my busy weekend.

I'll talk about the TEAMworks Ukraine golf tournament first. It was Saturday morning at Stonebridge golf course in Fayetteville. I got there at 6am to help get everything ready and set up for the day. We had  great Silent Auction items. We also had really nice prizes for people that got a hole-in-one on 3 different PAR3 holes. One prize was a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a $2,000 gift card (I can't remember the other prize, sorry). Everyone said the tournament went really well! YAY! I didn't get to stay very long to see who won everything but took a few pictures while I was there.

Also on Saturday my SIL Kara got married- YAY! Friday night was the rehearsal dinner at the Garden Room on Dickson. We had some yummy food and everything was very nice. Saturday was the BIG DAY!!! All of us bridesmaids had different times to get our hair done at Spoiled. After hair, some gitls went to GLO to get their make-up done and some of us had Big Kara do ours. We all met back up at Botanical Gardens- where the wedding/reception was. It was a hot but FUN/beautiful wedding! It did end up raining later on in the night but it turned out great and didn't rain during the ceremony! Here's some pictures from the big day- Congratulations Kara and Shelby- love you both and happy for you. Have a wonderful marriage and great time in Costa Rica!!!

                                     Bridesmaids with the BRIDE

                                           All ready to go

flowers from the wedding I took home- pretty

Now for the passport gone bad! I got a passport last November after getting engaged for Andrew's and I honeymoon- even though we had not decided where to go yet. I got my first passport picture done at WalGreens with the last name Glenn- this picture is sooo good! Well, Andrew and I went on a late honeymoon so when I booked it I put Kara Woody. That meant getting a new passport. Well this time when I went, I had my picture taken at the post office. This one is horrific! Andrew said we I would be getting arrested just because I look like I'm going to hurt someone! Now, I'm finally revealing the pictures. Don't laugh too hard = )

                                                aw, good picture

AND
                                           AWFUL PICTURE
Seriously looks like a mug shot = ( I'm thinking about just using my maiden name everywhere I go so I can use that passport- I'M NOT KIDDING!!!  = )

Have a great week everyone. Football is almost here!!!!

I have loved all this rain we've gotten this past week. I don't think I could ever get sick of rain- love the sound of it and way better than 110* weather!

I had another fun eventful week/weekend. Monday night I started off with going to a Stella & Dot Jewelry party big Kara was having. This jewelry has been featured on Oprah and InStyle Magazine. I'm not much of a jewelry wearer but I wanted tons of stuff they had! I ended up getting a pair of earrings and a bracelet. I could've ordered more but controlled myself ha! I'm not much of a party thrower for jewelry and these kind of parties but thought I would with this jewelry to show others the great stuff they have! Don't worry you'll get an invite later  = )

Thursday I needed to run some errands in Fayetteville before heading to Farmington. Hog season is approaching (WPS) and I'm all about the cute Hog apparel. However, some of it is a little too pricey ($100 and up- ouch!!) I stole an idea from a friend and went and bought a cheap dress (chocolate brown) from Wal-Mart ($6) and took it to Custom Tee's (off college) and had her put the glitter hog ($20) at the bottom of the dress. It turned out super cute and I love it!!! BTW- it was super fast too. I took the dress in and she did the Hog right then, I didn't have to leave and come back to get it!

After getting my dress done I went to a Fundraiser in Farmington for my friend Melanie. They had made chicken dinners to-go to help raise money. I got there right when it started but heard from others that went later that they stood in line for awhile because there were so many people = ) I'm so glad they had a great turn out.

Saturday I went and got my nails done and as soon as I walked in people were asking if I was "Little Kara". I thought this was hysterical. They were big Kara's neighbors and their daughter recognized me. Just cracks me up that everyone knows we're Big/Little Kara = ) But I love it! Afterwards I went and met Big Kara and her friend Rebecca to see "The Help". What a great movie. I read the book too which was great.  That night Andrew & I met back up the girls and their husbands to eat at Table Mesa. It was yummy as always = ) I got my usual, curry chicken burrito. Andrew got Pork Carnitos and loved them too.

Today (Sunday) I had Kara's (SIL) bridal shower at Briar Rose in Farmington. This was my first time to this place. It was very cute and we had a delicious lunch- sandwiches, fruit, fruit tarts and mini cinnamon rolls. I also got 2 chocolate croissants to take home- whoops ; ) I might've already ate one too and it was AMAZING! Kara got us some cute little goodies (cute bag, straightner holder, wet bathing suit bag, little makeup bag, pearl earrings/bracelet to wear wedding day). Kara did good by giving the wet bathing suit holder with a skull/crossbone bathing suit on it to me = ) She had to point it out to me though because I was too busy looking at my other stuff ha- sorry Kara.  Her big day will be here very soon!!

Andrew and I have turned one of our extra bedrooms into an extra TV room/man room. There isn't much decoration going on in there because it's last on list to decorate pretty much. I'm just more worried about the main rooms first. The little decorations it has is Hog stuff. I know a girl name Lane and she is a great painter. I saw a Hog painting she did on her FB page (Ruelle Designs, go check it out) and asked told Andrew we had to have it. Well he had something else in mind- I asked Lane if she could do it and she said "She'd love to". Here's the finished product and I think it turned out great! Andrew is very happy with it too. We still haven't hung it up = ( But hopefully he will tomorrow on his day off.

Look what else came in!!
FOOTBALL TICKETS!!! Cannot wait for tailgating and cheer on those Hogs!

20 days until first HOG GAME!
28 days until Las Vegas!
62 days until Ukraine!

Have a great week!

Weekend full of fun

The weekend went by way too fast and was packed with stuff to do!

Friday night I went and tried out a new restaurant with some friends (Kellye, Whit, Janae) in downtown Bentonville (right off the square) called Tusk & Trotters. It was good and I'd go again but not one of my favorites. LOVED the atmosphere but just not many menu options. Funny story- Kellye & I got their early to get a table because they didn't have any reservations left. We were hungry so thought let's get an appetizer- so we order "chips" & salsa. Well they give it to us and we just kind of look at each other. The waiter tells us they are prosciutto chips- so we were basically eating beef jerky with mango salsa. It was very different but pretty tasty. Guess next time we need to look at the thin print underneath the meals ha! I ate a chicken breast with yummy spinach and potatoes with a glaze on top of the chicken. It was very yummy! It was a nice change from all the other restaurants.

Saturday morning I woke up early to go to CrossFit to cheer for tons of athletes doing a "Hero Workout" for the Disposable Hero Project (DHP). I know I've talked about this Project on here before, so won't go into it. CrossFitNWA raised $12,000 for this project. Tons of people were at CF saturday morning doing this workout in honor of a soldier. It was amazing to see everyone come together for such a tough workout!! Great job for everyone that worked their butts off!!

After the workout was over I got ready to head to Embassy Suites for Kara's Bachelorette Party. One we all got there, we talked for a bit and then went to Bonefish to get some appetizers and then went to the spa for some treatments. After the spa we headed back to the hotel to watch Kara open her gifts and just relax.
                                                 The Bachelorette

PF Chang's Appetizers/wine at the Spa for us

Andrew decided to leave Nala in the house Saturday night when he went to work. We've left her inside before but only for like 2-3 hrs. at a time- NEVER 8!! Well Nala decided to have a party in the house- sorry if you already saw this on Facebook.
Yes that bed was made- but she decided to take everything off and get this little pillow off and destroy it. OMG I'm just glad Andrew got home to clean it up first = ) However, there are still TONS of little beads in the carpet if you look close and it's driving me nuts- we keep going over with a vacuum but I don't know if they'll ever go away!

Sunday night Andrew and I went to Bonefish for dinner. We haven't been to dinner just us 2 in forever! We both got the fontina chop (pork chop) with mashed potatoes. This is our favorite meal. I also added a salad which was amazing! Thank you Big Kara for introducing caprese salads to me. I need to start making them at home for dinner.
Mmmmm-  tomatoes, feta cheese and balsamic vinegerette

Tonight I went to a Stella & Dot jewelry party that Big Kara was hosting. It has really cute jewelry and I found me some earrings and a bracelet. Can't wait until I get them in!

26 DAYS UNTIL HOG FOOTBALL!!!!

34 Days until VEGAS!!!
68 Days until UKRAINE!!

Have a great week- I'm hoping it rains a lot!

~Great Weekend~

Well another hot weekend! The sprinkles we got was just enough to make it hotter = ( I got in my car today and it read 109*- ahhhhhh no more heat!

I had a pretty fun-filled weekend. Friday morning I went to try out a new little pastry shop in downtown Rogers off 1st street. It's called Meridienne Dessert Salon. It reminds me of a Rick's Bakery because they have great lunch food as well. On Friday they were having a special, and of course I had to try it = ) They had their homemade pancakes topped with honey butter and toasted pecans. I also got nutella on it with syrup. OMG they were absolutely amazing!! Everyone should go like their facebook page- except for they are always making you hungry with the pictures they post.

Andrew saw this picture and said they look nasty- BUT I promise they're sooooo good

Here's some pictures of the cute little Dessert Salon

Friday night I didn't really do much- just sat at home and relaxed- which was so nice because they don't come too often. Saturday I woke up early and went to Kara's bridal party. Afterwards, I called Whit and we met up to do some shopping and then got a pedi with Big Kara. I had bought a coupon off JakesDeals (I think) maybe NWADealPiggy for Riffraff. We went there and I found 2 really cute dresses and only had to spend $20 of my own money. I was pretty excited about my finds.

Can't tell but this dress is navy blue

Here's another dress I found at Impressions awhile back- this one is dark gray

One of my friends from work was telling me about a great recipe she tried from Pioneer Woman. If you don't know who this is, which you're crazy if you don't know, you should go check out her blog
Confessions of a Pioneer Woman. Anyways, the recipe is called Sour Cream Noodle Bake. It was yummy and extremely fattening- whoops!
Yeah big chunk missing- we already fixed our plates and I said "OH Crap I meant to take a picture"
haha- this picture doesn't look appetizing either- but I promise once again it's very good. I was proud of myself for doing it all on my way too = )

Who's ready for Fall (cooler weather) and FOOTBALL!!! 32 days until I'm at this place

Catching up

This weekend I did some catching up. I started going to Table Mesa Thursday night to eat with my bestie, Whitney and her mom. Of course the food was yummy as always = ) I won't describe my delicious food like usual. Afterwards we went to the original Wal-Mart on the Bentonville square. They have recently re-opened it after remodeling. It's a pretty cool museum if you ever have a chance to go.
My dad's been in town staying with Andrew and I while he's doing some painting for some people. So on Friday, Dad and I went to Conway to spend the weekend. It was nice to get away and see my mom. Mom and I went to LR on saturday and went and saw Friends with Benefits saturday night. This movie is pretty funny and I really liked it. Predictable yes, but still very good. Sunday we woke up and went to Waffle House before coming back home. Yummy, I love Waffle House- I always get the All-star meal (eggs, waffles, hash browns, bacon and toast).

My dad and I got back to Rogers sunday afternoon. Andrew went to wal-mart and picked up some things for dinner. He cooked filets, squash, asparagus and baked potatoes. OMG- it was wonderful! I wish I knew how to season things like him and cook food on the grill. But I have no clue- so I'll just leave it up to him = )

Last night (Monday) my dad and I went to Guasno's and ate sandwiches and I had to get my brownies from there, which are the best ever! After dinner, I took my dad to the original Wal-Mart since he hasn't been in awhile.

I have some very recent & exciting news to share! No I'm not pregnant- get those thoughts out of your mind = ) I will be going to Ukraine in October with TEAMWorks Ukraine to help kids with disabilities. I'm excited, nervous and anxious all at the same time. I know it'll be emotionally/physically draining but well worth it! TEAMWorks Ukraine is a mission teamed up with 99 balloons with physical, occupational and speech therapists from Children's Therapy TEAM.
You can read more about TEAMWorks Ukraine here- http://www.teamworksukraine.com/

Or 99 balloons here- http://99balloons.org/

TEAMWorks Ukraine is having a golf tournament at Stonebridge, Saturday, August 20th to help raise money for our trip. Shotgun starts at 8am- it will be lots of fun and there will be a silent auction.

To sign up to play in the tournament visit this website- http://www.birdeasepro.com/99B

Please spread the word to family/friends. If you'd like to sponsor or make a donation just let me know = )

Everyone have a great week- I hear tomorrow is suppose to get up to 110 degrees! Hottest day yet ugh!
45 DAYS TIL HOG FOOTBALL!!! WPS!
